BioHealth will contribute in a progressive convergence of the standardisation policies in eHealth on a European level.

Increasing awareness, confidence and acceptance among the users of security technologies - particularly with regard to identity management, biometrics and RFID technologies - are the primary objectives.
One of the major objectives is to create an open environment that supports the promotion of standardisation results from standard committees to policy makers and to stakeholders.

BioHealth stimulates innovation by:

• promoting the knowledge of standards.
  
  
• encouraging the use of existing standards in eHealth.
  
  
• facilitating its access by the eHealth concerned decision makers, hospital managers, developers, healthcare industry and in particular SMEs.

Activities

By working closely with standardisation committees and committee experts, the partners in BioHealth will reinforce the consultation of different stakeholders in Europe in supporting relevant standardisation committees, so that their activities represent the broadest possible consensus.

BioHealth currently :

• monitors the existing standards in eHealth.
  
  
• provides the relevant information to the eHealth standards users with regards to identity management, biometrics, ethical implications, etc.



• prepares clear guidelines specifically targeted to non-experts in the field of standardisation.

Duration

The project will be running until 01 March 2008.
